Meet ‘Papa’ Jonathan Udo Ekong, a father, a missionary, a theologian, an uncle, an agriculturist, an evangelist and many more. He was fondly known as ‘Bro Papa’ meaning ‘Father’s Brother’ by the rest of the family, and called ‘Ete Jonathan’ by elders.
He was the founder of the Lutheran Church of Nigeria. He has been globally recognized for his missionary training in America and his missionary journeys in Ibesikpo and other parts of Southern Nigeria. He is also known for his speeches highlighting the challenges of Christianity in Nigeria in the early 1900s.
Papa was also a family man and shared a close bond with his siblings – whose children are still great supporters of his work and vision. We will go up close and personal to share what a great man he was – not just in Nigeria but all over the world so you can have a better understanding of who Reverend Dr. Jonathan Udo Ekong was.
